May was full of outdoor fun. Since the weather was so lovely, we spent quite a lot of time visiting parks, splash pads and pools with friends and family. A major highlight for us was the pleasant discovery of the Homestead Heritage in Waco. Its a working homestead and Hank, Mommy, GG and Grandad enjoyed exploring the grounds and studios (pottery, woodworking, textiles, blacksmith) and the gristmill. We didn’t make it to the sorhgum mill this trip, but we look forward to exploring it another time. We ate in the cafe there and it was delicious. Everyone had a wonderful time and Hank asks to visit “the farm in Waco” now as often as he asks to visit the Mayborn Museum and the zoo there.
Hank had a blast exploring our local botanic gardens with his cousins, James and Paul and his pal, Ethan. The boys had such fun adventures together and really liked riding the train. Its crazy to think that I played on the same playscape and rode that train when I was his age too. So fun! Hank also enjoyed his violin, bowling and playing in splash pads and lots of cousin fun at Grandma and Grandpa’s pool and of course, going to baseball games with Dad and Mom. We also visited the Pioneer Days and got to go on a hayride, pet goats, brush horses, play old-time games and make hand-dipped candles. We visited some of our favorite museums and had a great time with people we love.
There were some birthdays and fun birthday parties for various friends and family in May. Hank really enjoyed the fun at his pal, Andrew’s camping party. He’s been asking us to set up tents in our yard ever since (nevermind that he has two in the house). We all had a wonderful time at Hank’s cousins, Michael and David’s birthday party. It was a Duck Dynasty Themed party and really resonated with a variety of ages. Hank had never seen that show before, but was keen to put on cammo and eat marshamllows (he opted not to eat the bun, so i guess it doesn’t count as a mallow-dog) and birthday cake. He loves his “big boy” cousins and thought it was very cool to hang out with the big kids too (although he wanted nothing to do with wearing a beard). We all love time with our family.
A big exciting new addition to our lives happened in May. Kung Fu. Hank began taking Kung Fu and he absolutely loves it. He is beside himself with joy whenever he earns a new belt or stripe and has really enjoyed practicing what he’s learning in Kung Fu at home. Its a great program. Hank adores his teacher, who is amazing with the children, and has made several new friends. Here are some photos from May in no particular order.
