We hope this note finds you well. We’re doing great! Hank is officially 7 weeks old now and currently weighs 13 pounds and 4 ounces. He’s recently discovered his voice and become very vocal with frequent soft, gleeful sounding coos and gurgles. We are incredibly blessed to have such a mellow baby and encouraged that he seems so content.
Thanksgiving was a lot of fun, and a very full and busy weekend! Hank got to meet more of his cousins, who all seemed fascinated by him, and his Aunt Kathy and Uncle Dick. He got to spend some quality time with his great-grandfather, Tom Dinan (we call him Grampie) which was very very special. Hank also went to church for the very first time that weekend. He slept through most of the service, waking only during his baptism to grace the pastor with an approving coo and sigh. Everyone was very complimentary of him and his behavior….we hope that calm behavior in church lasts into the future…
The past weeks have been very fun and we’re getting more used to the general lack of sleep that goes with being a new parent. We also encountered Hank’s first bout of eczema (yeah, dry weather!) and are now on the “we love Aquaphor” bandwagon, that stuff is amazing! Cody (our golden retriever) just celebrated his 10th birthday…he’seems to be aging gracefully. Tyler is doing well at work, they’re keeping him very busy with all sorts of challenging projects. He’s also currently negotiating some new photography opportunities which is very exciting! Sarah has been invited to sing with an old-time/Americana/Bluegrass/Country band and is currently in the process of learning their material. She’ll return to her own band and children’s shows in the new year (along with this new commitment) but has been enjoying some much needed time off while adjusting to life as a mommy.
We’re looking forward to celebrating Christmas with our families. This week we head to Arlington to celebrate with Tyler’s side of the family and next week we’ll be in the Austin area to celebrate with Sarah’s side of the family. Presently, Sarah’s brother Ben and his family (Nancy, James and Sam) are in town from Ohio for the holidays and staying with us. James, who is a little over 1 year old, seems enamored with Hank and really enjoys “talking” to him and touching his toes. Its quite a joy to watch the boys together and see what we have to look forward to as Hank continues to grow and develop.
We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this lovely December. Have a fabulous Christmas and New Year’s Eve. We look forward to seeing you in the new year!
